When children have difficulties communicating, every aspect of family life can be more complicated.
At Inner Circle Autism Network, building strong foundational communication skills is a central component of every ABA program. Those skills unlock new ways for children with autism to connect with their families.
“Our goal is to truly make an impact on that family’s life, to lessen stress and to strengthen the skills that our children have,” said Sarah Varillas, BCBA, Inner Circle Chief Clinical Officer.
For Inner Circle parent Demetria Hymes and her family, their son’s communication challenges were a major focus for his ABA program. Worries about his quality of life – his ability to fully participate in school and sports or make friends – prompted Hymes to connect with Inner Circle.
“One day he’s going to go out into the world, and I won’t be there. Knowing that these steps now are helping him for when he gets into his older years, it’s definitely a relief and [makes me] hopeful for the future,” Hymes said.
Inner Circle’s team worked closely with the Hymes family to understand their concerns and goals for their child’s future. By building a strong foundation of essential communication practices, their son’s ABA program equips him with the tools and confidence he needs to thrive.
“Inner Circle has helped him speak with teachers, make friends, play sports, and have a life,” Hymes said.
